Both the Range Rover Sport and the Q8 e-tron Sportback have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Sport P460e’s maximum EPA estimated range on a full tank and a full charge is 469 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The Q8 e-tron Sportback’s range is only 208 to 272 miles, after which the minimum time to recharge is 31 minutes for only an 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a professionally installed 220-volt charging station can take up to 16 hours.

For better stopping power the Range Rover Sport SV’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Q8 e-tron Sportback:

The Range Rover Sport SV offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the Range Rover Sport has larger standard tires than the Q8 e-tron Sportback (275/50R21 vs. 255/50R20). The Range Rover Sport SV’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Q8 e-tron Sportback (F:285/40R23 & R:305/35R23 vs. 265/45R21).

The Range Rover Sport’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q8 e-tron Sportback Premium ultra’s standard 55 series tires. The Range Rover Sport SV’s 305/35R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Q8 e-tron Sportback’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q8 e-tron Sportback Premium ultra. The Range Rover Sport’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Q8 e-tron Sportback.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Q8 e-tron Sportback; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Range Rover Sport Autobiography/First Edition has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Range Rover Sport Autobiography/First Edition offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Audi doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Q8 e-tron Sportback.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Range Rover Sport’s wheelbase is 2.9 inches longer than on the Q8 e-tron Sportback (118 inches vs. 115.1 inches).

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Q8 e-tron Sportback only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Range Rover Sport offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Range Rover Sport offers optional dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Q8 e-tron Sportback Premium Plus/Prestige offers wireless charging.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Q8 e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its January 2024 issue and they ranked the Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography higher than the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover Sport third among large premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Q8 e-tron Sportback isn’t in the top three.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport outsold the Audi Q8 e-tron by over two to one during 2024.
