Safety

The Range Rover’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Bentayga.

The Range Rover’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover and the Bentayga have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Range Rover comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bentayga’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Range Rover’s corrosion warranty is 3 years longer than the Bentayga’s (6 vs. 3 years).

There are over 4 times as many Land Rover dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover second among large premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Bentayga isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Range Rover P550e can travel with zero emissions on electricity, only, on a full charge for 53 miles. The Bentayga Hybrid has to start its internal combustion engine after only 20 miles.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Bentley only offers a regenerative brake system on the Bentayga Hybrid.

The Range Rover’s standard fuel tank has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga’s standard fuel tank (23.8 vs. 22.5 gallons).

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover higher (5 to 6 out of 10) than the Bentley Bentayga (2). This means the Range Rover produces up to 27.7 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Bentayga every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

The Range Rover stops much shorter than the Bentayga:

Tires and Wheels

The Range Rover has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Bentayga; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Suspension and Handling

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Bentayga doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 1.5 feet tighter than the Bentayga EWB’s (35.9 feet vs. 37.4 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover SWB has a 1.8 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Bentayga (11.5 vs. 9.7 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover LWB’s minimum ground clearance is 1.9 inches higher than on the Bentayga (11.6 vs. 9.7 inches).

Chassis

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Bentayga doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Range Rover LWB SE offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Bentayga can only carry 5.

The Range Rover LWB SE has 1.3 inches more front headroom, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, 1.6 inches more rear headroom and 1.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the Bentayga.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Bentayga doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

Cargo Capacity

The Range Rover LWB SE’s cargo area provides more volume than the Bentayga.

The Range Rover’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Bentayga w/Four Seat Comfort Specification doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Bentayga’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Towing

The Range Rover’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Bentayga’s (7716 vs. 7165 pounds).

Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is standard on all models of the Range Rover, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Bentayga Hybrid doesn’t offer a trailer sway program.

Ergonomics

If the windows are left open on the Range Rover the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Bentayga can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover has a standard rear speed-sensitive intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Bentayga only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Land Rover Range Rover has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Bentley charges extra for Homelink® on the Bentayga.

The Range Rover has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Bentayga’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

Recommendations

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover first among large premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Bentayga isn’t in the top three.

The Land Rover Range Rover outsold the Bentley Bentayga by over 19 to one during 2024.
