With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors costs extra on the Q5 Sportback.

The Range Rover Velar HSE has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Q5 Sportback.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Velar has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Q5 Sportback Premium Plus/Prestige offers wireless charging.

The Range Rover Velar’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Q5 Sportback Prestige’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Range Rover Velar will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Range Rover Velar will retain 51.5% to 52.5% of its original price after five years, while the Q5 Sportback only retains 48.27% to 49.93%.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover Velar second among midsize premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Q5 Sportback isn’t in the top three.
