2025 MINI Countryman

Safety

Both the Range Rover Evoque and Countryman have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Countryman’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the Countryman have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

There are over 2 times as many Land Rover dealers as there are MINI dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover Evoque’s warranty.

Engine

The Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 5 more horsepower (246 vs. 241) than the Countryman S’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Range Rover Evoque has 3.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Countryman (17.7 vs. 14.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (6 out of 10) than the MINI Countryman (5 to 6). This means the Range Rover Evoque produces up to 6.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Countryman every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Countryman.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Range Rover Evoque has larger standard tires than the Countryman (235/60R18 vs. 225/55R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Evoque offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Countryman’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Evoque is 1.6 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Countryman.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover Evoque’s turning circle is .1 feet tighter than the Countryman S’ (38 feet vs. 38.1 feet). The Range Rover Evoque’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the JCW Countryman’s (38 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Evoque has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Countryman (8.3 vs. 8 inches), allowing the Range Rover Evoque to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Range Rover Evoque has .9 inches more front shoulder room and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Countryman.

Towing

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Countryman’s (3935 vs. 3499 pounds).

While the Countryman JCW is not recommended to tow, any Range Rover Evoque can tow a minimum of 3935 pounds.

Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is standard on the Range Rover Evoque, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the Countryman.

Ergonomics

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Countryman.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard Passive Keyless Entry allows you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Comfort Access standard on the Countryman doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Countryman only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Evoque offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Countryman doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the Countryman have standard heated front seats. The Range Rover Evoque also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Countryman.

Compared to the MINI Countryman, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.
