For enhanced safety, the front and second-row seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Nissan Armada doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

The Range Rover’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Armada doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Range Rover and Armada have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Armada’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover. But it costs extra on the Armada.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Range Rover’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Armada doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Range Rover has standard Rear Traffic Monitor with Rear Traffic Braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Only the Armada Platinum offers Intelligent Back-Up Intervention.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Range Rover uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. The Armada uses a body-on-frame design, which has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

Both the Range Rover and the Armada have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Range Rover comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Armada’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Range Rover’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Armada’s (6 vs. 5 years).

The Armada’s redline is at 60050 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Range Rover has a 6200 to 7000 RPM redline.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover third among large premium suvs in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The Armada isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Range Rover P530’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 123 more horsepower (523 vs. 400) and 140 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 413) than the Armada’s 5.6 DOHC V8. The Range Rover P550e’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 143 more horsepower (543 vs. 400) than the Armada’s 5.6 DOHC V8. The Range Rover SV’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 206 more horsepower (606 vs. 400) and 140 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 413) than the Armada’s 5.6 DOHC V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the Range Rover P530 4.4 turbo V8 is faster than the Nissan Armada:

The Range Rover P550e can travel with zero emissions for 53 miles. The Armada can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Armada doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Range Rover’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Armada doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Range Rover P440e has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Armada. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Armada.

The Range Rover’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Armada doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the Range Rover has larger standard tires than the Armada (275/50R21 vs. 265/70R18). The Range Rover’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Armada (285/40R23 vs. 275/60R20).

The Range Rover’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Armada SV’s standard 70 series tires. The Range Rover’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Armada Platinum’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Armada SV. The Range Rover’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels on the Armada Platinum.

The Range Rover offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Armada doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Armada, which uses coil springs in front. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Nissan doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Armada.

The Range Rover has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Armada’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Armada doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

The Range Rover LWB SE handles at .74 G’s, while the Armada Platinum 4x4 pulls only .71 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover SWB’s turning circle is 5.4 feet tighter than the Armada’s (35.9 feet vs. 41.3 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is 3.4 feet tighter than the Armada’s (37.9 feet vs. 41.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 2.5 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Armada SV (11.6 vs. 9.1 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover’s minimum ground clearance is 2.4 inches higher than on the Armada SL/Platinum (11.6 vs. 9.2 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 400 pounds less than the Nissan Armada.

The Range Rover SWB is 10 inches shorter than the Armada, making the Range Rover easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Unibody construction lowers the Range Rover’s center of gravity significantly without reducing ground clearance. This contributes to better on the road handling and better off-road performance and stability. In addition, unibody construction makes the chassis stiffer, improving handling and reducing squeaks and rattles. The Armada doesn’t use unibody construction, but a body-on-frame design.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Armada doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the Range Rover’s second and third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Armada doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Armada’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Range Rover’s available tailgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Armada doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Armada SL/Platinum, the Range Rover has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Armada doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Range Rover’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Armada’s parking brake has to be released manually.

The Range Rover’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Armada’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

The Range Rover’s standard Passive Keyless Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Intelligent Key standard on the Armada doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Range Rover’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Armada SV/SL’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Armada doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Armada doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Range Rover offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Armada doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To better shield the driver’s vision, the Range Rover has a standard driver’s side dual-element sun visor that can block glare from two directions simultaneously (Range Rover also offers optional passenger side dual sun visors). The Armada doesn’t offer a secondary sun visor.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Range Rover to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Armada doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and second seat rows keep the Range Rover’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Armada doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Range Rover has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Armada SL/Platinum.

The Range Rover offers optional massaging front and second row seats, which keep the driver and middle row passengers. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Armada.

The Range Rover’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Armada doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
