Safety

The Range Rover’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Purosangue doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Range Rover has a standard Surround Camera System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Purosangue only offers a rear monitor.

Both the Range Rover and Purosangue have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Range Rover has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Purosangue’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Range Rover and the Purosangue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Land Rover Range Rover weighs 758 to 1543 pounds more than the Ferrari Purosangue. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Range Rover comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Purosangue’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Range Rover’s corrosion warranty is 3 years longer than the Purosangue’s (6 vs. 3 years).

There are over 5 times as many Land Rover dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover’s warranty.

Reliability

The Purosangue’s redline is at 8250 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Range Rover has a 6200 to 7000 RPM redline.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover third among large premium suvs in their 2024 Initial Quality Study. The Purosangue isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Range Rover P530’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 528) than the Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12.The Range Rover SV’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 528) than the Purosangue’s 6.5 DOHC V12.

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover P550e running on electricity gets better mileage than the Purosangue (51 city/56 hwy MPGe vs. 11 city/15 hwy).

The Range Rover P550e can travel with zero emissions for 53 miles. The Purosangue can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Range Rover has larger standard tires than the Purosangue (275/50R21 vs. 255/35R22). The Range Rover’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Purosangue (285/40R23 vs. 255/35R22).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover offers optional 23-inch wheels. The Purosangue’s largest wheels are only 22-inches in the front and 23-inches in the rear.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Purosangue, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

Chassis

The Range Rover uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Purosangue doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Range Rover LWB SE offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Purosangue can only carry 4. The Range Rover SWB has standard seating for 5.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Purosangue’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Range Rover’s available tailgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The Range Rover has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Range Rover offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Range Rover’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Purosangue’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Purosangue doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover has a standard rear wiper. The Purosangue doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Land Rover Range Rover has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are not standard on all versions of the Purosangue.

The Range Rover has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Purosangue.

The Land Rover Range Rover has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Ferrari charges extra for Homelink® on the Purosangue.

The Range Rover’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Purosangue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Recommendations

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Range Rover first among large premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Purosangue isn’t in the top three.
